• Perihilar (also called hilar) bile duct cancers

Intrahepatic bile duct cancers

The cancer growth begins in the bile duct and then it goes to the liver. In some cases, they get confused with cancer, and cancer growth occurs in liver cells

Perihilar bile duct cancers

It is also known as hilar and flat skin tumors. The cancer growth is divided into distal bile duct cancers along with extrahepatic bile duct cancers. 

Distal bile duct cancers

The cancers go down the bile duct which is near the small intestine. The growth of this cancer is outside the liver. 

Types of bile duct cancer by cell type

Bile duct cancer is divided depending on the way cancer cells look under the microscope. The cancer growth begins in the glandular cells which are near the cholangiocarcinomas and bile duct cancer. Other types are not that common like small cell cancers, lymphomas, and sarcomas. 

What are the other types of cancer growth in the liver?

One of the most common cancer types which begins in the liver is hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cell growth occurs. If the cancer growth occurs in the organ can spread in the liver and it is known as metastatic cancer or liver metastases. It is important to understand where the liver cancer started and whether there is the growth of cancer cells in which the growth started in the other organs & then it went to the liver.
