Bile Duct Injuries Treatment in Ludhiana, Punjab, While the person undergoes the laparoscopic cholecystectomy the bile duct injury occurs. This situation occurs when the surgeon is not able to identify the bile duct position correctly during the operation.
However, the chances of occurrence are less than 1%. Some of the factors which result in this condition are bleeding due to dissection, visceral fat, inflammation, and mirizzi syndrome. To get a better understanding of the condition you should consult our doctor.

What happens after the bile duct injury?

The injury occurs during the first initial procedure. It is important to get in touch with the experienced surgeon who will do the Roux-N-Y-Hepaticojejunostomy. If anything has gone wrong in the initial operation then it is important to approach the specialized centre to reconstruct the issue.
In many cases, the problem is identified when the patient is not able to recover properly from the surgery. The patient will have signs like intra abdominal sepsis and bile peritonitis. Reconstruction in this group is performed in a delayed manner once the sepsis and peritonitis have been treated and solved.

In most cases, the problem can be found when the patient is undergoing the surgery. If not, then the patient will notice that the recovery is not smooth after undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Some of the possible symptoms are:

Diagnosis for bile duct injuries

Around 25% of the patient will get to know about bile duct injury while undergoing the surgery. The surgeon will notice blockage or leakage with eyes or a special evaluation is done which is known as IOC (Intraoperative Cholangiography). If all the above-mentioned situation does not show the patient is having a problem then the following test will be done which includes:

  • Transabdominal Ultrasound The ultrasound uses sound echoes to create images of the body interior and the bile duct.
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography With this option, the flexible and long scope is put in the throat which allows the bile duct X-ray.
  • Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography During this test, the bile duct will be injected with a dye to take the X-ray.
  • Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography During this test, large magnet and electromagnetic radio waves are used.

What is the treatment for bile duct injury?

The main aim of the treatment is to manage the infection, blockage, or leakage which increases the chances of having an injury. A piece of intestine is used to reconstruct the bile where there is a leakage or blockage. Sometimes the injury is extremely complex, and a second injury is needed so that the bile duct is reconstructed correctly.

What are the possible results?

The results will depend on the severity and extent of the injury after the surgery. Undergoing the treatment will help to treat the bile duct injury and the patient can recover in a few days.
